1. Your Privacy (POPIA)

ReelTribe is operated by Axxell Medical (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "ReelTribe"), a South African company. We process your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").

What we collect

Account details: name, email address, password (stored securely, never in plain text)
Profile information: handle, bio, profile photo, location you choose to share
Content you post: catch photos, weight, species, dam/location, captions, comments, messages
Usage data: app activity, device information, approximate location (only where you enable it)
Payment information: processed by PayFast (see Section 2) — we do not store your card or bank details

Why we collect it

We process your information to create and manage your account, let you post catches and message other members, verify catches through Tribe Verify, process subscription and marketplace payments, improve and secure the app, and communicate with you about your account.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements)
Object to processing of your information in certain circumstances
Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run ReelTribe (e.g. cloud hosting, payment processing) under confidentiality obligations, other members to the extent you make information public, and law enforcement or regulators where legally required.

Where your data is stored

Your information is stored on secure cloud infrastructure, which may be located outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives an equivalent level of protection.

2. Payments

ReelTribe uses PayFast (Pty) Ltd, a licensed South African payment gateway, to process all payments — including PRO subscriptions, Vendor subscriptions, and Event advertisement fees.

We never see or store your full card or bank account details — these are handled directly and securely by PayFast.
Recurring subscriptions (PRO membership, Vendor tiers) are billed automatically on the frequency you select (monthly or annual) until you cancel.
You can cancel a recurring subscription at any time from Billing in the app; cancellation stops future billing but does not refund amounts already paid, except where required by law.
Your payment confirmation and bank/card statement will reflect the transaction description and the merchant name on file with PayFast (Axxell Medical (Pty) Ltd t/a ReelTribe).
All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and may include applicable taxes.

3. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Fishing is inherently risky. ReelTribe provides information (dam conditions, weather, species data, AI-generated guidance) for general interest only. It is not a substitute for your own judgment, local knowledge, or official safety warnings. We are not liable for injury, loss of life, drowning, or property damage arising from fishing activity, water conditions, or reliance on information in the app.
User-generated content. Catches, comments, messages, marketplace listings, and other content are created by members, not ReelTribe. We do not guarantee the accuracy, legality, or safety of user-generated content and are not liable for it.
Marketplace transactions. ReelTribe facilitates transactions between buyers and sellers but is not a party to them. We are not liable for the quality, safety, legality, or delivery of items bought or sold, beyond the escrow protection described in our Marketplace terms.
Third-party services. We are not liable for outages, errors, or issues caused by third-party services we rely on (e.g. PayFast, weather data providers, cloud hosting, AI providers).
No warranty. ReelTribe is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability.
Maximum liability. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

4. Age Requirements

ReelTribe welcomes anglers of all ages — including young members who take their fishing seriously.

Members must be at least 13 years old to create a ReelTribe account.
Members under 18 need a parent or legal guardian's consent to register and use ReelTribe. By confirming this on behalf of a minor, the parent/guardian agrees to these terms on the minor's behalf and takes responsibility for their use of the app.
We recommend parents/guardians review the app with younger members, particularly the Messages and Marketplace features.
We reserve the right to request proof of parental consent or to suspend an account where we reasonably believe a member does not meet these age requirements.
